Filaments Depot PLA Robuste HS - 1,75 mm 1 kg

Definitely my go-to all purpose filament. Reasonably priced, acceptable strength and quality even at high print speeds, better than average strength and quality at normal speeds. All at a very favourable price compared to similar competing brands. Glad to see they've got all the colours back in stock and hope they will expand the range. I've recently been playing around with a 0.8mm nozzle for very large prints, achieving deposition rates of up to 50 cu. mm./sec. and reducing printing times measured in days by half or more. The finish is definitely coarser that one would get with a 0.4mm nozzle, but that is to be expected. More fine-tuning may help with that but at the expense of speed -- always the trade-off. My grandson's subwoofer and amplifier cases pictured consumed about 7 rolls over 2-1/2 days. Which leads me to my only complaint: If you look close, there are a few periodic pronounced layer lines. Right were the roll ended. This is because the bent-over tip of the roll won't let go of the spool! On one hand, it is a testament to the toughness of this filament, but on the other it could ruin a print if your printer relies on a simple run-out sensor. Mine has a jam-detector that pauses the print if filament stops feeding. But even so there is a brief period where tension is building and flow rate is decreasing which shows up in the finished wall. I had some success using a knife-blade to trim the bent-over piece flush where it exits inside the spool. The shorter "hook" still manages to hold on about 50% of the time. It would be nice if the manufacturer could come up with an alternate means of securing the filament to the roll for the first wrap. Maybe adhesive tape or a less pronounced bend? I'm not sure how viable those options are with the production machinery in use. For now, pay close attention as you reach the end of the roll. Be prepared to snip the filament end off when it gets to the innermost layer.

Compares favorably to Bamboo and eSun high speed filaments and produces tough, strong parts @ 300mm/sec. Higher speeds are possible, but sacrifice strength somewhat. 375mm/sec for infill is my max comfort zone although I have printed as high as 500mm/sec in vase mode where strength isn't an issue. It's my new go-to standard filament. Now if only FD would increase the range of colours -- at the very least, get the ones they do list back in stock! Shown are a bunch of parts I printed for the CNC router, mostly in the orange, including a cable chain, dust shoe, table vise and various wire clips. Also a large print in progress in the charcoal. No stringing or warping, decent surface finish even at high speeds.
